Banks Township Board Meeting
Special Meeting
Saturday September 26, 2009
1. The meeting was called to order at 11:00 A.M. by Supervisor Thomas Mann. Present were Supervisor Mann, Clerk Donna Heeres, and Trustee Mark DeKorne. Absent: Treasurer Katy Postmus, Trustee Marvin Rubingh.
2. The advertised purpose of the meeting was to hire a firm to complete the phragmites treatment this year.
3. Clerk Heeres reported that communication from the DNR representative Brian Piccolo has indicated that even if funding is approved by the state legislature before October 1, the time required to hire a treatment firm will make treatment this year impossible. With the amount of effort that has been expended and the effects of delaying treatment on the spread of the phragmites, the Clerk asked that the Board award a bid and hope for possible (but not likely) reimbursement from the State.
4. The bids were reviewed: Lakeshore Environmental $3900; PLM $3950; Wildlife & Wetlands Management $4050; J F New $7160.
5. MOTION DeKorne, Mann, CARRIED to hire Lakeshore Environmental to do the phragmites treatment in Banks Township ASAP. Payment of $3900 will be from General Fund with a decision on covering the costs to be made at a later meeting.
6. Next meeting will be Monday, October 19 @ 7:30 PM.
7. The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna L. Heeres
Banks Township Clerk
