Draft Minutes

 

 

1. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Supervisor Thomas Mann.  Present were Supervisor Mann, Clerk Donna Heeres, Treasurer Katy Postmus, Trustee Mark DeKorne, and Trustee Marvin Rubingh.  Also Present: Mark Groenink, Brad VanderArk, Don Frosty.  Monika & Vanessa Rubingh arrived @ 8:30 PM.

 

2. The advertised purpose of the meeting was to approve financing for the purchase    of two new tankers for the fire department and to develop the 2011-12 budgets.

 

  1. Supervisor Mann presented his budget proposal.

 

  1. MOTION DeKorne, Rubingh, to pay cash for the two trucks (approximately $337,000) from the General Fund with repayment over time as directed by the Township Board from the Fire Fund.  Discussion was held.  Yeas: two, NAYS: three, MOTION FAILED.

 

  1. MOTION Mann, Heeres, to pay $200,000 from the General Fund and borrow the remainder (approximately $137,000) @ 2.5% interest for 7 years.  The Fire Fund would make the loan payments.  MOTION TO AMEND THE MOTION was made by Rubingh, supported by DeKorne to add that if in November of each year the combined balance of the General Fund & Fire Fund exceeds $150,000, the excess will be paid on the trucks immediately.  Vote on the Amendment: YEAS: two, NAYS: three, MOTION FAILED.  VOTE ON ORIGINAL MOTION: YEAS: two, NAYS: three.  MOTION FAILED.

 

  1. MOTION Heeres, Mann, CARRIED to adjourn.

 

7.  The meeting was adjourned at 11:40 P.M.
